Hey there! It’s the Idiot before G0D with a little note about Lent.
Tomorrow, 26 February 2020, is Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten liturgical season. Many of us will be thinking of what spiritual practices to start and what sacrifices to undertake. But before we should do any of that, there is something we must remember.
We need to take care of ourselves.
If we feel compelled to try a Lenten practice, we should do what we can to fulfill that. But remember Matthew 9:13:
“Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.”
So, let us be merciful with ourselves even as we strive to do what we feel is “better.” And may we do these things with the help of the Lover, the Beloved, and the Love Overflowing.
